A 25-year-old Oakville man is the second person arrested in connection with the death of Tim Bosma.
At a Wednesday afternoon news conference, police said Mark Smich was arrested earlier that day while on foot in Oakville and will appear in a Hamilton court Thursday.
“He will face a charge of first-degree murder,” said Supt. Dan Kinsella.
Police say Smich is the second man who accompanied previously arrested Dellen Millard on a supposed test drive of Bosma’s truck.
Bosma was last seen May 6, leaving his Ancaster home for the test drive.
Police have said they believe Bosma was killed either that night or the next day. His burned remains were found on a North Dumfries farm owned by Millard
Millard, 27, was arrested May 11 and charged with first-degree murder several later.
Police spent more than a week searching both the farm and a hangar at Region of Waterloo International Airport owned by Millard’s company, Millard Air.
An incinerator was found at the farm, but police have not said if it was used in Bosma’s death.
A forensic unit has been set up outside the Oakville home of smich, who Kinsella said was known both to Millard and to police.
A third suspect, who followed Bosma’s truck in another vehicle, remains at large, but police released information about the vehicle for the first time Wednesday.
“Police have determined that this vehicle was a dark blue Yukon owned be DM. This vehicle has been seized by investigators,” said Kinsella.
More than 700 tips have been provided by the public at a tip line set up by Hamilton Police. The tip line number is 905-546-2100.
“We continue to prioritize and develop leads,” said Kinsella.
“This is a very time-consuming process.”
