Police say it could be days before a decision is made whether to lay charges in a multi-vehicle pileup in Mississauga that sent at least 12 people to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the collisions began around 6 p.m. Friday when a black Lincoln Navigator SUV struck several other vehicles, drove into a store and then hit a utility pole.
Police say a total of 17 vehicles were involved, including a transit bus.
Const. Lillian Fitzpatrick says those taken to hospital, including the driver of the SUV, suffered minor scrapes and bruises and have since been released.
Fitzpatrick says it could take days for a decision on whether to charge the 62-year-old woman allegedly driving the SUV due to the complexity of the crash scene.
Fitzpatrick says at least four officers are trying to figure out what started the collisions and are interviewing witnesses as they try to reconstruct the chain of events.
She says alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
