A Cambridge man is facing a list of charges after being caught speeding through Bayfield.

A Huron County OPP officer caught a pickup truck going over 145 km/h through Bayfield around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday.  The posted speed limit through town is 60 km/h.

Police noted that the speed was even more dangerous considering the truck was pulling a trailer loaded with golf carts.  The officer began to follow the truck northbound toward Goderich.

The pickup drove for several kilometres in the wrong lane.  The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued on.

Just south of Goderich, two other cruisers were waiting, and the driver finally pulled over.

As the driver was being charged with dangerous driving, the arresting officer noted that the man had been drinking and was showing signs of impairment.  When he was transported to the OPP detachment, the breath tests registered over the legal limit.

The 27-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving.  He received a 90-day license suspension and a 7-day suspension for stunt driving.  His truck was impounded for seven days, also due to the stunt driving.
