The Governor General has announced 95 new appointments to the Order of Canada.

Two local names made the list.

Robert W. Cox is a scholar in the field of international relations and global governance.

Frank Hasenfratz is the founder of Linamar. He started the Guelph-based auto parts company in his basement back in 1964.

His daughter Linda is Linamar’s current CEO.

Hasenfratz was nominated for his contributions to Canada’s manufacturing industry and his philanthropic initiatives.

Other notable names on the list include former hockey player Sheldon Kennedy, and singers Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida.

George Cope, the president and CEO of BCE, was also nominated. BCE is the parent company of CTV News.
