It will be several months before residents of a Kitchener neighbourhood know if 40 townhouses will be built in their area.

City councillors voted Monday night to put off any decision on a proposed new development in the Hidden Valley neighbourhood until late September.

A developer has proposed building 40 townhouses on Hidden Valley.

That plan has been met with opposition from people already living in the area.

Some residents have expressed concern about the townhouses being built on land that could otherwise be used for large estates.
