The director of a play centre in Guelph says he’ll find a way to ensure children with special needs can use all of the centre’s facilities.

The announcement from Gio Salgo of Funmazing came on the heels of the story of a four-year-old girl told she couldn’t use Funmazing’s play structure due to the braces and shoes she wears to offset her mobility challenges from cerebral palsy.

Funmazing has a socks-only policy, which Salgo previously said was meant to ensure the safety of all children on the equipment.

“We are committed to (finding) a solution so this doesn’t happen again,” Salgo said in an email.

“We will provide a shoe-cover system in order to provide the appropriate surface that would allow a smooth and safe descent down our slides.”

In his email, Salgo apologized to the community at large and said he had done the same privately to the family of four-year-old Eloise Dupuis.
