Four more patients and three staff members have been infected by gastroenteritis at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

An outbreak of the intestinal virus was declared Tuesday after five patients became sick.

Hospital officials say any patients showing symptoms of gastroenteritis are placed in isolation, and precautions are being taken throughout the hospital.

The outbreak covers the mental health inpatient unit on level 5 of Wing B at the hospital.

Visitors to that unit are limited to one per patient at any time, and must wear a hospital gown and gloves.

Anyone visiting any part of the hospital is asked to stay home if they are displaying cold or flu symptoms, or otherwise not feeling well.
