Part of Homer Watson Boulevard remained closed as of early Thursday afternoon due to a crash that brought down hydro wires and sent one person to hospital.

The crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m.

Waterloo Regional Police say a car was driving northbound on Homer Watson, between Block Line Road and Hanson Avenue, when its driver lost control and hit a light pole.

The pole fell to the ground – as did connecting hydro lines, which became caught on the roof rack of a passing commercial vehicle.

As a result, the rack and the ladders it was holding were pulled off the commercial vehicle.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital, but not believed to be seriously hurt.
