Here’s a look at holiday hours for businesses and services around Waterloo Region:

 

Waste services

  • Garbage, recycling and green bins will be collected Wednesday as per normal
  • Homes normally receiving collection Thursday or Friday will be delayed one day

Public facilities

  • All Region of Waterloo administrative facilities are closed Christmas and Boxing Day
  • Kitchener City Hall offices close at noon Christmas Eve and will remain closed until Monday, Dec. 29, although the building itself will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 24 through Dec. 27
  • The Kitchener Market will close at noon Christmas Eve
  • All City of Kitchener pools are closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 26

  • Arenas in Cambridge close at 11 a.m. Wednesday and remain closed through Christmas and Boxing Day

Transit

  • Many Grand River Transit routes are running on modified schedules from Dec. 22 to Jan. 4
  • Many routes will run on reduced schedules Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day will see a Sunday service schedule for all routes except the 200 iXpress, which will run on a Saturday schedule

Shopping

  • Fairview Park Mall is open Christmas Eve from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Christmas Day and open Boxing Day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Conestoga Mall is open Christmas Eve from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Christmas Day and open Boxing Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Cambridge Centre is open Christmas Eve from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Christmas Day and open Boxing Day
  • The Outlets in St. Jacobs are open Christmas Eve from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Christmas Day and open Boxing Day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • All The Beer Store and LCBO stores close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day
  • Many grocery stores, but not all, are open Boxing Day. Check your local store for its hours
