Two Brantford Police officers have been charged under the Police Services Act in connection with an incident last summer in the city’s north end.

Police say the charges relate to an incident on July 9, 2013, at a housing complex on Memorial Drive.

An investigation by the Office of the Independent Police Review Director resulted in the laying of charges against the two officers.

One officer is accused of making three unlawful or unnecessary arrests and using unnecessary force in making those arrested.

The officer is also charged with unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority in connection with force used against another person during the incident, and discreditable conduct.

The second officer is charged with neglect of duty for failing to comply with police policy.

The identity of the officers was not disclosed, but they both remain on duty.

Citizens are facing separate criminal charges in connection with the incident.
