A Cambridge man was airlifted to a hospital in Hamilton following a crash involving a cyclist Tuesday night.

Waterloo Regional police were called to the corner of Salisbury Avenue and Grand Avenue, in the Galt area of Cambridge, just before 10 p.m.

Police say a pickup truck was southbound on Grand Avenue when it struck a cyclist that entered its lane.  The cyclist, a 49-year-old Cambridge man, suffered serious head injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital in Cambridge.  He was later air lifted to hospital in Hamilton.

According to police, the man was not wearing a helmet.

A 22-year-old Ayr woman, who was driving the pickup, was not injured but shaken up by the incident.
