The driver of a tractor-trailer loaded with turkeys that tipped over in Erin has been charged with careless driving.
The truck, which was carrying 800 turkeys, rolled over around 6 p.m. Sunday while traversing the intersection of Main Street and Wellington Road 125.
Officials with Wellington County Large Animal Emergency Rescue say approximately half the turkeys were killed in the crash.
For several hours, the intersection where the crash occurred was closed as officials attempted to flip the truck upright; some diesel fuel also leaked from the truck.
Charged is Serge Cote, a 52-year-old Zorra Township resident. He was not hurt.
