A teenager left Brantford shortly after robbing a gas station with a shovel, Brantford Police say.

Police officers were called to the gas station – which is in the city’s north end, on Brantwood Park Road – around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in response to a robbery.

The robber allegedly demanded money from the clerk while holding a large shovel, and left when cash was turned over.

Police say people in the area were able to identify the robber – and provide information that he may have fled to Simcoe.

A 17-year-old boy was then arrested in Simcoe, on charges of robbery, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime, and failure to comply with a court order.
