Workers at two Cargill food processing plants in Guelph have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a strike.
More than 650 members of the United Food and Commercial workers Local 175 cast a ballot today.
Minneapolis based Cargill Meat Solutions now has two weeks to respond with a new contract offer. Employees say they're at odds with the company over proposed changes to benefits and reduction of guaranteed hours.
A strike would affect the beef processing plant on Dunlop drive and the case ready plant on the Watson parkway.
