Work on the new Margaret Avenue bridge in Kitchener, which was halted last fall due to issues regarding proper permits and approvals, is back underway.

Metrolinx, which owns the rail tracks under the future bridge, says construction and maintenance agreements with the city are now in place.

A permit for construction within the rail corridor is expected to be issued by the end of the week.

The previous bridge was closed in June 2013 due to fears of a collapse, and demolished later that year.
