ROCHESTER, N.Y. - A US$36 million settlement has been reached in a lawsuit stemming from a bus crash involving the Windsor Wildcats hockey team.
The settlement is for the team members on the bus that crashed into a tractor-trailer that was parked on the side of the road near Rochester, N.Y., nearly seven years ago.
The accident claimed the life of the team coach, his son, the mother of one of the players and the truck driver.
The settlement was reached earlier this week between the victims' lawyers, the bus company and trucking company.
Connecticut lawyer Ed Jazlowiecki represents three of the victims and says it's a decent settlement for his clients.
Jazlowiecki says everyone involved wanted to end the case because it had been dragging on for seven years.
"My clients felt that it was time to settle, we got the best settlement we could for them and it is a fair settlement," he said Wednesday.
A jury had awarded three seriously injured members of the team US$2.25 million last year.
