What’s the worst time of day for crashes on Guelph’s roads?

If you think it’s the morning rush, or the afternoon rush, you’re not quite there.

According to statistics released by the Guelph Police Service, the noon hour has been the most common time for crashes on city roads so far this year.

Ranked second on the hour-by-hour breakdown is 9 a.m., followed by 4 p.m.

The data covers the first nine months of the year, during which 2,067 crashes were reported to police – up from 1,888 in the same period last year.

Drugs or alcohol were found to be factors in 20 of those collisions, while 24 involved pedestrians.

Looking at specific intersections, Edinburgh Road and Wellington Street saw has seen more collisions this year than any other corner, followed by two Woodlawn Road intersections – at Woolwich Street and at Elmira Road.

More crashes were reported in January than in any other month this year, while Friday was the most common day for collisions.
