The Waterloo Regional Police Service is looking for the person behind a swatting call in Cambridge.

Officers were called to the Burnett Avenue and Saginaw Parkway area on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. after they received a threatening call.

Investigators were later able to determine the call was fake and there were no concerns for public safety.

‘Swatting calls’ are fake reports made to police, businesses or individuals, often threatening violence, to try to provoke an emergency response.

In November, Waterloo Regional Police charged a 15-year-old boy as part of a lengthy swatting investigation. Police said they had received 13 swatting calls between May and October of 2024.
