OPP have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 401 as a 20-year-old Cambridge man.

The crashed occurred last Friday in the early-morning hours, between Guelph Line and Highway 6 in Puslinch Township.

Two westbound vehicles collided, sending one into the ditch while the other remained on the highway.

The vehicle that stayed on the road was then hit from behind by a transport truck, sparking a fire that destroyed both vehicles.

The driver of the car, pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified as Cambridge resident Brandon Nederpelt.

Police investigation and cleanup kept the highway closed for more than 11 hours.
