Drownings on the shores of Lake Huron in Grand Bend and Southampton over the weekend have left two men dead.

On Sunday evening a 27-year-old male was found unresponsive in the water on Grand Bend’s main beach following a search of the area.

Lambton OPP says the man was transported to South Huron Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified on Monday as Jeno Bujtas of Howick Township.

Meanwhile Saugeen Shores Police say a 79-year-old Southampton man was pulled from the water without vital signs on Saturday afternoon.

The man’s spouse had been watching him swim when he stopped moving, according to police.

A young couple pulled the man from the water but he wasn’t breathing and had no pulse. CPR was initiated but the man couldn’t be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
