Two Waterloo Region residents are facing charges in connection with what Huron County OPP are calling “one of the largest drug seizures in recent history” in that area.

Police say the seizure was the result of two vehicles being stopped last week on Kerry’s Line, west of Lucknow.

The drivers had been travelling together, police say, and one was found to be suspended.

Police searched the vehicles, allegedly turning up 49 bags of marijuana, weighing more than 280 kilograms in total.

A 57-year-old man from Woolwich and a 30-year-old man from Kitchener are both charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The Woolwich resident is also charged with driving without a licence and driving while suspended.
