WHITBY, Ont. -- The search for a missing Whitby, Ont., man is continuing today as police take their search to a lakefront area where the man was known to enjoy jogging.
Durham regional police Sgt. Nancy van Rooy says there has still been no sign of 52-year-old Jeffrey Boucher but adds the investigation is ongoing and the search is not yet being scaled back.
Police have said it's presumed he went out for a morning jog Monday and never returned, although they say no one actually saw him get dressed and leave his home in the community east of Toronto.
Van Rooy appealed again today for tips or information from the public but said there are no new developments in the case.
She says ground and air searches will continue through the weekend and into next week and that police will be expanding the "geography" of the search today after combing areas closer to Boucher's home over the past few days.
That includes revisiting the waterfront areas of Lake Ontario, where pathways and trails are popular with runners.
"Sadly to say, we have not yet located any evidence or any fresh or concrete leads to the whereabouts or the welfare of Jeffrey Boucher," she said.
Among the possibilities police are considering is that Boucher may have deliberately "walked away" from his life, said van Rooy. But she added they are still committed to finding him and urged him to get in contact if he can.
"If you've just stepped away, those reasons can be explained later. There's no judgment here," said van Rooy. "We just want to be able to find you and to know that you are OK."
Boucher, who is a teacher at Bowmanville High School, is described as white, six feet tall and 180 pounds with grey and white short hair.
