The renowned farmers market in St Jacobs that was leveled by a fire earlier this week has partially re-opened.
The outdoor portion market, as well as one of its buildings, was back in business Thursday, with more than 300 vendors expected to set up shop.
Tom Isotamm says "We come about once a month, we enjoy it, there's always a good deal to be had and good things are going on in here so i think its very important."
Marcus Shantz the president of Mercedes Corp. which owns the St. Jacobs Farmers' Market says, market isn't gone it' now in a recovery stage.
"It has been an emtional day and in the most part a realy good morning. people pick up and move on and we're still here."
Premier Kathleen Wynne was on hand for the re-opening of the market, which she calls an important part of the community.
The year-round market's main building was gutted by a fire officials say began in its southeast corner early Monday morning.
Many shoppers spent a good portion of the morning trying to find a favorite vendor displaced by the fire. Mary Denomme says "I just keep walking around, that's what ive been doing for the past half hour looking for my various people."
Woolwich Township says the Ontario Fire Marshal's office has wrapped up its on-site investigation and has removed items of interest for further examination.
Fire Marshal spokesman Lonnie Schubert has said investigators have yet to identify what caused the fire but are looking at several "potential ignition sources."
