CHATHAM, Ont. -- Ontario's police watchdog has been called in to investigate after a male was struck and killed by a Via Rail train in Chatham, Ont.
A Via spokesman confirms a passenger train struck and killed a trespasser (near Byng Avenue) Friday afternoon.
Police were in pursuit of the victim when he tried to cross the tracks.
There were 120 people on the train travelling from Toronto to Windsor.
The Special Investigations Unit is automatically called in to review police involvement in cases of death of serious injury.
