In an average year, Ontario sees 12 tornadoes.
With another month to go in the province’s tornado season, the count for 2014 now sits at 16.
The latest tornado, confirmed Thursday by Environment Canada, touched down in the Erin area around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 20.
The agency says video evidence suggests it was “likely a weak and short-lived tornado” with wind speeds somewhere over 90 km/h.
Environment Canada has classified the tornado as an EF-0.
No damage was reported.
