Hot peppers sold at some Ontario retail outlets are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency's recall covers 75-gram packages of hot peppers sold under the brand name Veg-Pak Produce.

Recalled peppers contain the UPC code 0 59559 00021 4 and product codes A496201 186, A518901 186, G496201 185 or C496201 181.

The CFIA says the recall was triggered by test results, and the recall could be expanded to include other products.

Anyone who has purchased those peppers is asked to throw them out or return them to the point of purchase.
