A familiar face to Canadian hockey fans will be the star of this year’s Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Parade.
Festival officials announced Tuesday that broadcaster Ron MacLean will serve as the parade’s grand marshal.
MacLean will also be in town over the Thanksgiving weekend as host of the Rogers Hometown Hockey event.
This year’s parade runs along a new route due to construction on King Street.
It starts at 8:30 a.m. at King and Cedar streets in Kitchener, then makes its way up King to Victoria Street, over to Weber Street via Victoria, and finally up to its endpoint at Weber and Bridgeport Road.
The parade will be broadcast on CTV Kitchener at noon on Monday, Oct. 12.
