Construction will push one of Waterloo Region’s largest gatherings off its usual route this fall.
Organizers of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest announced Wednesday that they’ve finalized a new route for the Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Included in that new route is a reversal of direction, with the parade now starting in Kitchener and finishing in Waterloo.
The parade will begin at King and Cedar streets, then head up King to Victoria Street.
Instead of continuing along the normal King Street route past that point, participants will turn right on Victoria, then left on Weber Street.
After that, the parade will continue up Weber into Waterloo – ending at Bridgeport Road.
This year’s parade takes place Monday, Oct. 12.
The same route is expected to be followed for the Santa Claus Parade.
