Officials in Perth County are dealing with their second confirmed case of rabies in the past four months.

The most recent case involves a skunk. Last December, a cow also tested positive for the Arctic fox strain of the disease.

Both animals were found in the Ellice Ward area, south of Milverton and north of Stratford.

According to the Perth District Health Unit, both cases are unrelated to the more than 75 cases of rabies found in raccoons in and around Hamilton.

Earlier this month, 20,000 rabies vaccines were airdropped around the Ellice Ward area.
