The first of three public meetings was held Wednesday night for parents interested in learning more about changes coming to school start times.

The Waterloo Region District School Board is considering earlier start times for elementary school students and start times as late as 9:30 A.M. for high school students.

The board says the proposed changes could mean teens will be more attentive in class and help cut transportation costs.

There are two more public meetings. Information on the study can be found at the board's website at: http://www.wrdsb.ca/about-us/transportation/bell-times-study
