Waterloo Regional Police showed off the drugs, weapons and cash seized after an organized crime bust Wednesday morning.

Supt. Gary Askin says "Like other criminal organizations we found them to be involved in the sale, production and even in the theft of illicit narcotics."

Nineteen people have been arrested and about 140 charges laid over the course of the investigation, which was connected to an organized crime group known as the ‘Luminati.'

Rings engraved with ‘Luminati' were also among the property that was seized. However, not all of those arrested were connected to the group.

Police were made aware of the crime group in 2008, when they were known as the 'Luminati Brotherhood Crew,' and Askin says the group has "an affiliation with the Hell's Angels."

Charges included drug-related offences connected with possession and trafficking of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine and marijuana.

Warrants were executed on ten residences in Waterloo Region and nearby townships, following an investigation that began in 2009.

More arrests and charges are expected, and police say the investigation is far from over.

Waterloo Regional Police Chief Matt Torigian says "Our work can't stop. We are in a full court press against these types of organized criminals to ensure that we can remove these drugs off the street and take them out of the hands of youth."
