The Peddler’s Village building at the St. Jacobs Farmers Market will reopen to the public on Thursday – nearly two months after it was badly damaged by a fire.

Peddler’s Village is not the main building at the market, which reopened last year after a separate fire broke out there in 2013.

It houses a food court, as well as a number of vendors of food, crafts and other items.

On May 26, it received an estimated $150,000 in damage – not including the value of vendors’ contents – when a fire broke out.

The sight of black smoke prompted officials to evacuate the building, and firefighters spent much of their time on its roof as they battled the flames.

Only part of Peddler’s Village will be open to the public on Thursday.
