Breslau Memorial Park is being considered as the future site of a new library and Catholic school for the community.
Officials with Woolwich Township and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board announced their intentions Tuesday, in advance of a public information session slated for next month.
The space already contains a community centre, which would be turned into a larger rec complex as part of the project.
Details on the cost of the project aren’t known, but Devin Petteplace, the township’s communications co-ordinator, says it would involve the school board buying a portion of the parkland from the township.
“The township would take all that money and put it back into our redevelopment of the park,” he said.
Also not clear at this point is when completion would begin and finish, although a 250-student school for Breslau was approved in 2013, to replace St. Boniface Catholic Elementary School in Maryhill.
The public information session takes place Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., at the Breslau Community Centre.
