Ontario raises minimum wage to $11

Minimum wage workers in Ontario got a raise on June 1^st.

Starting Sunday the minimum wage jumped from $10.25 to $11 an hour.

The increase was announced last January.

Anti-poverty activists and unions were pushing for an increase to $14 an hour. They said the minimum wage must keep up with the cost of living.

This was the first minimum wage increase in the province since 2010.
