The trial of a man accused of killing a 17-year-old girl in Milverton more than two years ago was expected to begin Monday – but was instead delayed until May 29.
Michael Schweitzer, 25, is accused of shooting Nicole Wagler dead in December 2012.
Neighbours have said the two were roommates.
A 24-year-old man, Tyler Baker, was shot and wounded in the same attack.
Monday, the trial was delayed on news that Schweitzer – who has been in custody ever since his arrest – had broken ties with his previous lawyer and hired a replacement.
Justice Thomas Heeney told the court it was “incredible that this matter is not going forward … but these things happen.”
Testimony heard prior to the switch, including pretrial proceedings, will remain on the record.
