People in the village of Milverton are trying to make sense of a double shooting that left a 17-year-old girl dead and a 22-year-old man in hospital.
On Tuesday, police were called to a home on Edward Street where they found the body of Nicole Wagler. A second victim, 22-year-old Tyler Baker, was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
Michael Schweitzer, 23, has been charged with first degree murder and attempted murder.
Wagler was a student at Stratford’s Northwestern Secondary School. On Thursday, grief counselors were called in to help students try and make sense of the tragedy.
“From what I heard she was a really nice girl,” said student Evan James. “I didn’t know her that well but I talked to her a couple of times. She was very nice, and I know a lot of people miss her.”
Business owner Dan Weber says the entire town is stunned. “We’re a small quiet town, so it’s pretty shocking. Nothing like this ever happens here.”
