London Police say they’ve tracked down and arrested the parents of an eight-week-old boy found alone in a driveway earlier this week.

The baby was found at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, strapped into a car seat, by a neighbour.

Police believe he had been there for several hours.

His mother, police say, had placed the boy in the driveway before leaving the property.

She was allegedly arrested elsewhere in the city at 1:48 a.m. for driving while impaired by a drug.

“While the exact time the child was placed in the driveway could not be determined, the police do not have any reason to believe the mother did not drive directly to the location where she was arrested,” a police news release stated.

Megan Sproul, a 31-year-old London resident, has been charged with abandoning a child and failing to provide the necessaries of life.

Police say that when they were called to the house, they found the boy’s father inside – even though a probation order prohibited him from being at that residence.

He had also been ordered not to consume alcohol, but police say he had been doing that as well.

Craig Lush, a 31-year-old St. Thomas man, is charged with two counts of breaching probation.

Police continue to investigate.
