The mink bandits have struck again.

Late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, 6,800 mink were released from cages at a mink farm near the Town of St. Marys.

According to Perth County OPP, one or more people cut a number of wide openings into the fence surrounding the farm, broke into four sheds, and set the mink loose.

While many of the mink were tracked down and returned to their cages, some were still missing as of Wednesday afternoon.

In Late May, a similar incident was reported at a mink farm to the east of the one targeted this week, along Perth Line 9.

Sixteen hundred mink were released in that case.

Ranchers said they believed animal welfare activists to be behind the incident.

Police continue to investigate both cases, and say they want to hear from anyone with information.
