Kitchener man arrested after police said he approached bylaw officers with a knife

A Kitchener man has been arrested after Waterloo Regional Police Service said he threatened bylaw officers while holding a knife.

Officers were called to a home in the Ottawa Street South area of Kitchener on Sunday around 12:10 a.m.

Police said bylaw enforcement officers had been responding to a complaint when a man holding a knife began yelling at them.

Police negotiated with the man for several hours before he was safely arrested.

A 65-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.

He was held for a bail hearing.
