PORT BURWELL, Ont. -- Elgin OPP officers are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man from Langton on Thursday night.
Police say Herman Teichroeb disappeared while swimming in front of the West Beach in Port Burwell.
He was swimming with two other male relatives about 100 metres offshore when they began having difficulties swimming back.
Two of the males made it back to shore safely with the assistance of other men.
Police and fire crews found the man's body but attempts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead at the Tillsonburg Hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday in Woodstock.
