Kitchener city councillors have approved a new roof for a south-end arena.

Councillors voted Monday night to accept an approximately $414,000 tender to replace the roof at the Lions Arena on Rittenhouse Road.

According to a city report, the existing roof is 30 years old and showing “signs of significant deterioration and potential failure.”

The work will be done by Cambridge-based Flynn Canada, which had the least expensive of the five bids received by the city.
