The Canadian Coast Guard says spring icebreaking operations in Georgian Bay and on Lake Huron are to start this weekend.
An icebreaker will make its way into Georgian Bay for April 13th and will proceed with icebreaking in the Owen Sound, Midland and Whitefish River areas.
The Coast Guard says dates and routes are subject to change with little or no notice due to operational requirements or changes to weather and ice conditions.
Fishers and snowmobilers and other recreational users are advised to leave the ice immediately if they see an icebreaker in the vicinity.
