The utility Hydro One in Ontario has created a special team to mitigate on-farm electrical issues.
Farmer Brent Royce, who chairs the OFA's stray voltage working group, was involved in the establishment of the Farm Rapid Response Team.
Royce describes the team as a group of six or seven people trained specifically to address farm electrical issues across the province.
He says the new system will include a 1-800 number for farmers to use to reach the team.
Stray voltage, also known as stray current, involves electricity flowing off the power grid and through the ground.
Farmers in various parts of Ontario have claimed that the stray electricity is responsible for injuring and even killing some of their livestock.
