Hundreds took part in Kitchener/Waterloo’s Coldest Night of the Year walk Saturday evening.

The event raises money for the Ray of Hope Community Centre, which provides meals, clothing and other necessities for those struggling with poverty.

Participants had the option of walking a two, five or 10 km course, starting at Cameron Heights Collegiate.

The same event was held in locations across the country, including Brantford, Guelph and London.

Since 2011, Coldest Night of the Year has raised $2.4 million nation-wide for various charities.
