Two weeks after Bill Richardson was hired as Guelph Transit’s supervisor of transit mobility, he is once again looking for work.
Richardson was fired Tuesday after city officials learned of sexual harassment allegations leveled at Richardson that spelled an end to his time at Hamilton’s transit authority.
A female Hamilton Street Railway supervisor accused Richardson in 2012 of sending her pornographic emails and making unwanted gestures and touches.
At a grievance arbitration hearing, Richardson denied those allegations and questioned the supervisor’s intelligence, but admitted to sending her profane emails.
The results of the grievance were released last week, just after Richardson started a new job in Guelph.
City of Guelph officials refused to comment on the case on-camera, but did release a statement Tuesday afternoon confirming Richardson’s departure and saying the city had no knowledge of the grievance arbitration results until Monday.
“The City of Guelph received very satisfactory references from two senior management employees from the Hamilton Street Railway,” the statement reads.
“Immediately upon learning of the arbitration ruling, the City of Guelph reviewed the ruling, met with Mr. Richardson to discuss the situation, and subsequently made the decision to terminate his employment.”
The grievance resulted in the female supervisor being awarded $25,000.
When Richardson was fired from his job in Hamilton, he was given $200,000 in severance pay.
Guelph officials tell CTV News that Richardson will not receive any severance pay from the city.
