A fan favourite is leaving Storm City as part of two trade deals involving the Guelph Storm.

In a media release on Tuesday, the Storm announced they have traded defenceman Cameron Allen to the London Knights in exchange for Noah Jenken, two second-round picks, two third-round picks, two fourth-round picks and a fifth-round pick.

Allen has been with the Guelph Storm since 2021 and, although he didn’t make the final cut, he was recently invited to Canada’s national Junior team selection camp.

The Washington Capitals also signed him to a three-year entry-level contract worth $886,667 annually back in July.

He was the 136th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

He also served as captain of Team Canada for the 2023 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Switzerland.

“This was a very difficult decision for our organization,” Storm general manager George Burnett said in the release. “Cam has been a tremendous player, leader, and community ambassador for the Storm over the last four years and we hope that the relationship between Cam, his family, and the Storm continues in the future.”

But that wasn’t the only move the team made.

Burnett also announced the Guelph Storm have picked up Justin Bottineau from the Kitchener Rangers. In exchange, Kitchener will get Guelph’s fifth-round pick for the 2028 OHL Priority Selection.

Bottineau has been with the Rangers since the 2022/2023 season.

“We would like to thank Justin for his hard work and dedication to our team,” said Kitchener Rangers General Manager, Mike McKenzie. “It is never easy to see a player move on that has been here for 3 years but hopefully this will provide more opportunity for Justin moving forward.”
