Two high schools were placed in hold-and-secure for about an hour Tuesday afternoon due to a report of a man with a knife in the area.

The hold-and-secures were ordered at 12:26 p.m. at both Centennial CVI and College Heights Secondary School, which sit on neighbouring properties.

Guelph Police say students in the area had reported that a man approached them and pulled out a knife.

Responding officers searched the area, and the hold-and-secure was lifted at 1:25 p.m. after police determined that the man was not on the property of either school.

Police say they found the man around 1:45 p.m.

Further information was not immediately available.
