Police are investigating the sudden death of a 7-week old baby in Guelph.

On August 21st, emergency crews were called to a home in the northwest part of the city just after 5 a.m. When they arrived, they found an infant without vital signs.

The baby was revived by paramedics and taken to Guelph General Hospital for treatment, and then transferred to McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton where it died the next day.

Police say they still don’t know how the baby died and they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. The results of an autopsy are expected next week.

Guelph Police won’t be releasing any further details of the incident, including the gender of the infant.
