A Guelph mother has been found guilty of arson endangering life and the attempted murder of her son.

Janet Philp, 44, showed no emotion as the verdict was read in Superior Court on Tuesday night.

Philp was arrested back in July 2008 following a suspicious fire that destroyed her Milson Crescent home.

Her son, Taylor Morel, who is now 18, escaped from the burning home by jumping out a window. He also ran back in to attempt to rescue his mother.

The prosecution also told the jury that Philp was fed up with her son for not helping around the house, and angry that he intended to return to his father's home in North Bay.

She will be back in a Kitchener courtroom on Wednesday for sentencing.
