The Brantford Police Services Board has selected a replacement for retiring Chief Jeff Kellner.
The board announced Friday that Deputy Chief Geoffrey Nelson will take over the city’s top policing job effective June 1.
Nelson has been policing Brantford since 1990.
Beginning as a patrol officer, he worked his way up through the organization, being promoted to inspector in 2006 and deputy chief in 2011.
He lives in Brantford with his wife and two children.
